Fringe player can transform into mainstay: Three things learned from Rangers in win v Aberdeen

Bates can transform into Ibrox mainstay

Rangers
David Bates came into the starting XI after Danny Wilson was axed ahead of reported interest from MLS.
The former Raith Rovers defender has only ever been a fringe player who has been thrown into the side when necessary but now he has a real chance to make a starting spot his.
With Wilson looking like he’s on the way out, Bruno Alves injured and also possibly on the way out and Fabio Cardoso unable to force his way into the side Bates is the first pick to partner Russell Martin.
Ross McCrorie would be another option but with the 19-year-old out injured, if Bates can perform then he’ll give Graeme Murty a serious decision to make.
