26-year-old is a huge miss: Three things learned about Rangers in win v Fraserburgh

Alwick isn’t good enough to challenge Foderingham

Rangers
Alnwick is a decent enough goalkeeper but the more he gets given game-time the more obvious it becomes that the former Port Vale shot-stopper isn’t good enough to realistically challenge Wes Foderingham for a regular start.
When Alnwick signed 12 months ago it was clear he was signed as back-up to Foderingham but as the Gers squad continue to improve, there is nobody who is there who can push Foderingham on to better.
Third-choice Liam Kelly impressed out on loan but isn’t close to being ready to challenge for a first-team sport while Robby McCrorie might one day be a long-term number one at Ibrox but it’s still a long way off just now.
When the transfer window opens again in June, Murty – or whoever takes the reins long-term – should make signing competition for Foderingham one of their priorities.
