26-year-old is a huge miss: Three things learned about Rangers in win v Fraserburgh
Tavernier is a huge miss when he’s not playing
The 26-year-old right-back had to sit out the trip to Fraserburgh after picking up a suspension in last season’s tournament – the fact that the Scottish FA don’t have an ‘amnesty’ between seasons is ridiculous – and it’s clear how big a miss he is down the right.
Alongside Daniel Candeias, Tavernier has been one of the Light Blues biggest attacking threats this season and the Ibrox giants didn’t look as dangerous without the former Wigan defender.
Tavernier will come back into the side for this weekend’s clash with Hibs but – like Wes Foderingham – the defender is another who, when he isn’t in the team, is a big loss.
Murty will be desperately hoping Tavernier can avoid injury or suspension between now and the end of the season.
