Summer signing Alves joined Rangers with a big reputation – and likely an even bigger weekly wage – but the Portuguese international just hasn’t delivered anywhere near what was expected when he signed from Cagliari.
The veteran defender hasn’t reached Carlos Pena levels of ridiculous or Joey Barton-esque embarrassment but he hasn’t lived up to the hype.
Alves been decent enough but with the pedigree and reputation he comes with, he should be standing out alongside defenders like Danny Wilson or Fabio Cardoso.
With every passing game it looks more and more like Alves is only in Scotland to top up his retirement pot.
