Kane’s support acts shine
Harry Kane may have stolen the headlines with his goals against the Saints but in all reality he was simply in the right place at the right time.
In fact it was the supporting cast of Dele Alli, Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen who really shone on Boxing Day, creating opportunities which meant it was nearly impossible for the star striker to score.
The Danish midfielder’s free kick was inch perfect, giving Kane a header from two yards out – although the Southampton defence was shocking, while there was some impressive interplay which led to a tap in for the second.
Alli and Son both took their chances early in the second half to get onto the score sheet, and were a constant threat throughout.
