This man miles away from first team – Three things learned in Tottenham v West Ham
Complacency costs Spurs
After their first half performance, it looked a near certainty that Tottenham would be making their way into the quarter finals, with West Ham posing no real threat to a Spurs side who rarely needed to get out of third gear.
However, while the Hammers stepped up their performance in the second half, Spurs failed to follow and complacency set in to ruin their first half efforts and eventually end their hopes of lifting the League Cup.
It was a performance which was a far cry from the usual high quality expected from Mauricio Pochettino’s men, and the manager will be fuming that his players, whether first team regulars or fringe players, allowed such a slip up.
