Attacker simply not good enough: Three things we learned about Tottenham from win v Barnsley

Sissoko struggles continue

Since his £30million move from Newcastle in the summer of 2016, Moussa Sissoko has failed to live up to his huge price tag.

It looked as though he would be offloaded by Pochettino during the summer, but, for whatever reason, he remained in North London.

Somewhat surprisingly, considering his run of ineffectual performances from the club last season, the French international has been used by the Argentinian manager in all of the club’s six games this season, making three starts and three substitute appearances.

However, despite his extended run of game time, the attacking midfielder is still yet to show his worth in a Tottenham shirt.

Tuesday saw another disappointing performance in which he failed to offer much attacking potency in the final third, while his ball control left much to be desired.

Another poor display and Pochettino will likely be hoping that the likes of Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela return from injury sooner rather than later to take the Frenchman’s place in the squad.

It is surely clear by now that Sissoko will never cut the mustard at Spurs.
