Three things learned about Tottenham v Real Madrid – This revelation destined for greatness

Tottenham mixing it with the big boys

While full time saw Tottenham come away with just a point, it was a mighty impressive performance against one of the heavyweights of world football.

There have been some doubts over whether Spurs have what it takes to compete at the very top, especially considering their displays in Europe last season, but those doubts have been well and truly quashed.

Tottenham did not play for a draw, they played to win, and they could have done so had it not been for an inspired performance from Keylor Navas.

Granted, the same could be said about Hugo Lloris, but that in turn proves that Spurs can take on the big boys at their own game.

Still, they have to host Real at Wembley in the return fixture, which is going to be a fascinating encounter considering Spurs’ current difficulties at home.
