The Toon Army have been desperately waiting to see their January signing in action, and with a two week break to recover from his injury blow, it makes sense to expect Bournemouth should be his debut for the club.
However injuries can be tricky to manage, and it is important that Benitez takes the time out to ensure Slimani’s return does not risk further damage, either on the training ground or on the pitch.
The player himself will know his own body, so if he feels fit and firing, then he could well be chosen to lead the line against Bournemouth – and fans will be hoping to see him hit the goal trail straight away.
