Senior player must be binned in summer: Three things learned about Rangers in draw v Motherwell
Alves is finished at top level
Rangers fans had huge hopes for Bruno Alves when the Portuguese defender swapped Serie A for the Scottish Premiership but the senior player has come nowhere near living up to expectations.
Alves looked completely out of his depth against Motherwell and struggled with the Steelmen’s physical play as they raced into an early 2-0 lead.
Despite regularly trying to play 50 or 60 yard passes at every chance, the Portuguese international couldn’t do simple things well like win challenges and clear his lines.
While it’s obvious the 36-year-old is nearing the end of his career, his performances for Rangers give the impression he’s absolutely finished at the top level and should be binned in the summer.
