Attacker needs to replace regular star: Three things we learned from Rangers v Partick Thistle

Jason Cummings deserves a run of starts

Rangers
Cummings was handed his first league start for the Gers, replacing Alfredo Morelos up front, and put in a solid shift up-front as Thistle tried to choke the midfield and deny the striker any service.
The former Hibs star was forced to come deep to find possession but did brilliantly to keep the ball every time it fell to him.
With Cummings lacking match fitness, the striker needs a regular run of starts over the coming weeks – either with or without Alfredo Morelos beside him, showing he can work as a replacement for the Columbian.
Cummings clearly has the quality to win games for the Gers but needs to be given a chance to get up to speed before he can really make a difference for Murty’s side.
With a trip to Ayr United on Sunday in the Scottish Cup, the on-loan Nottingham Forest star should be given the nod from kick-off, and give Morelos another day off.
