Three Tottenham players on chopping block vs Brentford, Thomas Frank’s future could hinge on it

Tottenham turn their attention to a must-win game against Brentford on 6 December after a fortunate draw against Newcastle.

Spurs were lucky to draw 2-2 with Newcastle after an uninspiring performance at St James’ Park on 2 December.

If it wasn’t for the brilliance of Cristian Romero against Newcastle, the Lilywhites would’ve suffered their fourth straight defeat in all competitions.

Ahead of Thomas Frank’s reunion with Brentford, the under pressure manager must make some drastic changes to his side to improve their deplorable home form.

Destiny Udogie

Tottenham fans were incensed by Destiny Udogie’s performance against Newcastle and it looks highly likely he will be left out of the starting XI as a result.

The Italy international struggled to cope with the might of the Magpies’ attack as he was dribbled past on three occasions, landing just two of his nine duels.

This season, the Lilywhites are having issues at left-back, with Djed Spence also not delivering since his first call-up to the England squad.

Frank will be left with little choice but to hand the ex-Nottingham Forest man another chance to impress, especially after his main competitor’s frailties were on display against the Toon.

Kevin Danso

Alongside Romero, the Austrian had an extremely busy game on Tyneside as he battled against the strength of Nick Woltemade.

Kevin Danso racked up 11 clearances and won four of his seven aerial duels in a solid defensive performance for Spurs, even clearing a ball off the line.

Yet, the 27-year-old will continue to have to settle for being a back-up option in north London, with the rested Micky van de Ven expected to return to the starting XI.

However, the number four shouldn’t be disheartened over being dropped, as he should see an excellent amount of minutes in the coming weeks during the congested winter period.

Brennan Johnson

The former Forest starlet’s struggles of late have been well-documented, yet he somehow continues to get starts under Frank.

Brennan Johnson last scored for Tottenham back at the end of August and is in dire need of a purple patch, similar to the one at the start of last season.

However, with Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel both waiting in the wings to steal minutes off of him, the Welshman is likely to miss out against Brentford.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the ex-Bees boss is running out of patience with his number 22, given the number of opportunities he has been handed recently that have proved to be wasted.
