‘Time is up’ for Divock Origi and senior Liverpool teammate after developments in last 24 hours – pundit

Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino’s time at Liverpool is up, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Liverpool completed the signing of Luis Diaz from FC Porto.

The Reds confirmed on Sunday (30 January) Diaz had signed a “long-term contract” at Anfield.

A recruitment source told Football Insider today (2 February) Porto and Spurs had signed an agreement earlier in January for the Colombia international to join later in the month for around £50million.

However, a row over agents meant the move collapsed and Liverpool were able to swoop in and complete a deal for a similar price.

Origi, 26, and Minamino, 27, have been pushed even further down the pecking order by Diaz’s arrival.

“They probably are looking at life after Mo Salah and Sadio Mane do go,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But Liverpool have probably looked at Man City who have Mahrez, Jesus, Grealish, Sterling, Foden so why should they only have three top attackers? Why can’t they have four or five?

“That’s what they’ve got. They’ve got Mane, Salah, Jota, Firmino, Diaz and that’s what they need.

“They are in a lot of competitions still. It’s going to give Klopp a chance to rotate with better quality.

“Origi and Minamino are not good enough. For me, their time is up at the club, goodbye.

“It’s a great move for Liverpool.”

Diaz has scored 16 times in 28 appearances across all competitions, including 14 goals in 18 league games.

The 25-year-old has also played 31 games for his country.
