‘Turn him into a monster’ – Man United fans react as star joins West Brom

Manchester United fans have sent their best wishes to Toby Collyer after the midfielder joined West Brom on loan on Friday.

After making six Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last term, Collyer attracted plenty of Championship interest before joining the Baggies.

The 21-year-old would have struggled for game time in the Man United midfield, amid the presence of talented stars like Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.

Contrastingly, West Brom defeated Blackburn in the opening game of their Championship campaign, and will look to utilise Collyer as they continue their playoff push.

The Albion finished ninth in the second tier last term, and will hope that the Man United youngster can help guide them to the top six.

Meanwhile, West Brom were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Derby County on Tuesday, 12 August, and will look to return to form when they face Wrexham in the Championship on Saturday, 16 August.

The Baggies will be eager to hand Wrexham their second consecutive defeat in the Championship, after the Welsh side lost to Southampton last weekend.

Collyer will look to endear himself to the Hawthorns faithful at the earliest possible opportunity, while Ryan Mason‘s men host Portsmouth on Saturday, 23 August.

The fact that the youngster made 13 senior appearances for Ruben Amorim’s side last season suggests that he can perform well in the Championship for West Brom.

Meanwhile, Italian journalist Luca Bortolotti weighed in on the Serie A transfer interest in Torbjorn Heggem in a West Brom News exclusive.

After the Championship side announced Collyer’s signature on 15 August, Man United supporters sent him their best wishes.

One Red Devils fan wrote on X: “Turn him into a monster lads!”, while another said: “Take good care of him please.”
