Todd Boehly could be about to seal his best Chelsea transfer yet – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly would “finally be getting a big transfer right” if Victor Osimhen arrives before the deadline.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – backed the 25-year-old to score 20 league goals and inspire a return to the top four for Enzo Maresca’s side.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea are in negotiations to sign Osimhen in a cash-plus-player exchange that would see Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku head to Napoli.
Football Insider revealed on 30 July that Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Nigeria international as their London rivals accelerate talks.
Osimhen has hit 76 goals in 133 club appearances since joining Napoli from Lille in 2020.
Boehly could ‘finally get it right’ if Osimhen heads to Chelsea, says Wyness
Big-money signings like Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Lukaku are yet to prove their worth at Stamford Bridge – but Wyness insisted Osimhen would be a different proposition.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m hoping he will come and kick off a bit of a race with Haaland for the Golden Boot.
“That would be fantastic for the Premier League and superb for Chelsea.
“Osimhen would have to aim for 20 goals, and that would put Chelsea back into the reckoning for the top four.
“Finally, Todd Boehly may be getting a big transfer right and throwing money at the right area – rather than wasting it.

“It would inspire the other players in the squad, the likes of Mudryk. Osimhen could improve their performances too.
“It could come right for Chelsea if that transaction happens, and it looks like it’s going in the right way.”
