Tom Rogic: Pundit suggests Celtic are in talks over new deal with ‘great player’
Alan Hutton has suggested Tom Rogic may have already held initial talks over a new Celtic contract despite Ange Postecoglou’s recent comments.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted all parties would want a deal to be done after the 29-year-old’s outstanding form this season.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun (6 February), Postecoglou claimed talks over a new deal for Rogic are “the last thing on my mind”.

Postecglou revealed he would “let it roll” unless Rogic “knocks on my door” for a new deal.
The playmaker’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023.
However, Hutton suggested discussions may have already taken place.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think when you’re building a squad like Postecoglou’s doing, you need the experienced heads round about you. The likes of Rogic, McGregor, Hart, these kinds of guys.
“They’ve been there, seen it, done it. You need that within your squad and then you can put the different jigsaw pieces next to them.
“So I’m pretty sure that there will have been conversations that have already happened.
“He’s maybe trying to keep it close to his chest. He doesn’t want to make a big deal of it and neither does the player.
“It wouldn’t surprise me in the near future if we did hear more about it. They’ll want to tie him down. Rogic is a great player and he’s still got a lot to offer.
“He’s only 29 and he’ll want to continue winning things for Celtic. He’s already won a heck of a lot as we stand, so he will probably want to continue.”

Rogic has been at Celtic since joining from Central Coast Mariners in 2014.
He has scored 45 goals and contributed 48 assists in 254 appearances.
