Tomas Soucek backed to complete £50m Tottenham move after ‘controversial’ update – pundit

Tottenham will have to pay at least £50million to sign Tomas Soucek from West Ham.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider (2 June) that Soucek, 27, has been offered to them via agents in a surprising new twist.

The Czech midfielder’s future is up in the air with talks over a new contract stalling and this site revealed last week (26 May) his relationship with David Moyes has disintegrated.

Kenny insists a £50million would deal would not be Sours paying over the top as Soucek is “unbelievable”.

“It’s definitely controversial,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If he has fallen out with the manager and you can’t repair it then it is better to cut ties and move on.

“Whether West Ham would want to sell him to Tottenham is a different thing. Money talks, doesn’t it?

“He would be an excellent signing for Tottenham, I can see him there. I really do rate him at West Ham.

“How much can West Ham get for him? It’s a tough one. You are looking at £50million plus.

“In this day and age you are looking at something like that and I don’t think it’s paying over the top, he is an unbelievable player.”

Soucek made 35 appearances during the 2021-22 Premier League season.

He also featured in all but one of his side’s 12 Europa League games.
