Tomas Soucek: ‘Incredible’ claim issued after West Ham source’s update today – pundit
West Ham would be making a “massive statement” if they can tie down Tomas Soucek to a fresh contract.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “incredible” midfielder’s future.
As revealed by Football Insider last Friday (11 February), West Ham are opening talks over a new and improved contract for Soucek.

The latest update from a club source today is that the Irons are confident of agreeing extended terms with the Czech.
Soucek’s current terms run until the summer of 2024.
Kenny insists it would be a boost for the whole club if West ham can tie down the Czech international.
“He is an incredible player who is a key part of the West Ham team,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If he gets this new contract then it just keeps clubs off his radar.
“The other side of that is if a club wants him, they will have to pay well over the odds for him.
“I haven’t seen too much transfer talk about him recently. I remember last season there were links with Man United.
“So it would be massive statement for West Ham to tie him down. It would be a statement of intent as well after they didn’t sign anyone in January.
“Let’s see if they get this one done because you never know with things like this.
“West Ham will want it done quickly I’m sure. It would be a boost for the whole club.”

Soucek has scored three goals in 31 total appearances for the Hammers this season.
Last year he caught the eye by bagging 10 goals in 38 Premier League outings.
In other news, Hammers need to “pull out all the stops” for another contract deal.
