Tommy Conway: Door opens for Rangers as teammates ‘upset’ at exile – sources
Bristol City forward Tommy Conway has not fallen out with the manager and never asked to leave the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Reports suggest that Conway has had a bust-up with manager Liam Manning and is looking to leave City after being frozen out of the first team squad.
However, Football Insider can reveal that the 21-year-old has been open to signing a new deal at the club but feels the extension offer made to him is below market value.
Staff and players are believed to be upset over Manning’s treatment of Conway, sources say, after the manager banished last season’s top goalscorer to the Under-21s.
Conway is seen as a big part of the club having been at Bristol City since the age of seven.
With only one year left on his contract, Conway is attracting interest from Rangers, who are keen on bringing the Scotland international to the Ibrox.
Rangers have set their sights on Tommy Conway
Following an impressive Championship campaign in which Conway ended the season as Bristol City’s top goalscorer scoring 10 goals in 39 appearances, the striker received a call-up to Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad.
Following the departure of Keemar Roofe and a mixed season for Cyriel Dessers, Rangers are looking to bolster their attacking options and see Conway as a striker with huge potential.

Right-back and set-piece maestro James Tavernier ended last season as Rangers’ top goalscorer. Since Football Insider revealed the 31-year-old may be set to leave the club, the Glasgow club will have to look elsewhere for goals.
