Top-flight striker makes honest admission over possible January Rangers transfer

Former Rangers midfielder Steven Naismith has confessed that a move back to his old club was never really on the cards.
The Norwich City attacker was touted with a return to Ibrox after finding his opportunities at Carrow Road limited and became keen on a move away from the Championship outfit.
However, as quoted in The Scottish Sun, Naismith revealed that: “There wasn’t contact as such in terms of we want you, this or that.
“But with any player, clubs will say, ‘yeah we’re interested. It’s not something we’ll maybe do straight away or this or that, we’ll need to wait and see’.
“And I’d probably put it in that bracket.
Before adding: “But there was nothing that ever came of it.”
The 31-year-old played for the Gers back in 2007 and spent five years at Ibrox before his move to Everton on a free in 2012.
Graeme Murty had a busy January transfer window as he looked intent on strengthening his squad in all key positions.
Many thought a loan move would have suited all parties, particularly considering the attacking-midfielder’s wealth of experience in the Scottish top-flight.
However, the 31-year-old secured a loan move to Hearts in the middle of January and has made five appearances for the Tynecastle Park side since his return to the SPL.
And Naismith will be handed the opportunity to put one over his old side at the end of this month, when the two teams go head-to-head at Ibrox, as the Light Blues attempt to put an end to their poor home form.
