Tosin Adarabioyo reacts to Chelsea’s four-word Cole Palmer announcement
Chelsea are in the midst of a busy summer transfer window, and their recent Cole Palmer announcement has caught the eye of centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.
The Blues secured Champions League football on the final day of the Premier League season, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 to confirm a fourth-place finish.
Enzo Maresca’s side also had a taste of European success, defeating Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final.
Palmer was instrumental for Chelsea in their second-half comeback against Betis, setting up two goals in the space of five minutes as he turned the game around for the West London side.

Palmer’s new number revealed
As has become the case at Stamford Bridge, Palmer was the key man for the Blues last season, scoring 15 goals and picking up eight assists in the Premier League.
Games | Goals | Assists |
37 | 15 | 8 |
Since his move from Manchester City two years ago, the 23-year-old has developed into one of the most exciting young players in the world.
Ahead of next season, Chelsea have confirmed that Palmer will no longer wear the number 20 shirt, instead donning the famous number 10.
The Blues announced the switch on Instagram, posting a video of Palmer’s new shirt, with the caption: “Cold off the press.”
Centre-back Adarabioyo liked the post to show his appreciation.
New Chelsea signing Delap takes No.9
Football Insider Verdict
It was confirmed on Wednesday (4 June) that Chelsea have signed Liam Delap from Ipswich, after triggering his £30million release clause.
The 22-year-old scored 12 Premier League goals for the Tractor Boys last season, as well as picking up two assists for the relegated side.
The Blues have given Delap the number nine shirt, which hasn’t been worn by anyone since
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left in 2023.
It was expected that whichever striker Chelsea brought in this summer would immediately become Maresca’s number one centre-forward, and with this news, we can safely assume that Delap will be ahead of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in the pecking order.
It would not be a surprise to see one of the aforementioned pair depart before the start of next season, after both failed to hit the heights that were expected of them in the 2024/25 campaign.
