Tottenham ace reveals instructions from Pochettino, claims he got them spot on
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham defender Danny Rose claims that manager Mauricio Pochettino got his tactics “spot on” in Sunday’s 2-1 victory against Burnley.
Pochettino used a four-man defence against the Clarets after Toby Alderweireld was ruled out with a minor back injury and switched from a back three that worked so effectively against Hull.
Spurs’ full-backs Kyle Walker and Rose were both in great form against Burnley, with the latter scoring a winning goal in the 71st minute.
The England international pair frustrated the opposition’s defence all game and spent most of the game in the attacking half.
Rose believes that his manager made a good tactical decision by encouraging the two defenders to support the attack on Sunday.
“The manager wanted myself and Kyle Walker to be as high up the pitch as possible and he got his tactics spot on with Kyle getting the assist for the first goal, while I managed to score the second,” Rose said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Rose has emerged as a key player under Pochettino this season and offers great energy on the left wing.
The 26-year-old has scored two goals and supplied three assists in 15 appearances this season, showing how much of an attacking threat he is for Spurs.
Pochettino has been altering with his formations this year as he tries to find the strongest set-up, but Rose has been a mainstay in the starting XI in all systems.
Spurs remain fifth-placed in the Premier League table, but have won their last two consecutive games and are in the pack chasing a top four spot.
The north London club are 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea and will not have given up on the title.
In other Tottenham news, this player has been the club’s most improved player this year.
