Tottenham among ‘four’ clubs submitting James Maddison bids after source’s reveal – expert
James Maddison will be the subject of bids from “four or five clubs” including Tottenham this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender said Maddison would choose a move to the London club but won’t be short of interested parties in the upcoming window.
The 26-year-old’s current contract at Leicester City runs until 2024 but is set to leave this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Last month (31 May), Football Insider revealed that Spurs have made Maddison their top target for the transfer window.
But on 2 June, this site revealed that Newcastle United are now the frontrunners to land a box-office deal for the midfielder.
The Magpies are believed to be ahead of Spurs in the race for the England international’s signature.
When asked if Maddison would choose Tottenham over other interested clubs, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he would but I think there will be admirers out there.
“He had a decent season for a team that struggled and he has definitely got the ability when he is playing with a team that is firing on all cylinders, full of confidence, to make them even better.
“There will probably be four or five top clubs that will be interested for James Maddison. Bids will be happening. Tottenham, Newcastle will be among them.”

Maddison made 32 appearances for Leicester across all copmetitions this season.
The midfielder scored ten goals and provided nine assists but couldn’t do enough to keep the Foxes in the top flight.
