Tottenham and Man United stars react to Joao Palhinha’s ‘incredible’ message after debut
Tottenham’s new signing Joao Palhinha shared a heartfelt message following his debut in the UEFA Super Cup, despite the heartbreak of losing the final.
Tottenham looked on course for silverware after taking a 2-0 lead against PSG, with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero producing outstanding performances at the back and finding the net.
However, the French champions staged a late comeback, with Lee Kang-In firing home from distance in the 85th minute before Goncalo Ramos grabbed an equaliser deep into stoppage time. The match went to penalties, where PSG came out on top.
Meanwhile, new loan signing Palhinha impressed in midfield for Tottenham on his first appearance for the club. After the final whistle, he posted an emotional message, acknowledging the disappointment of the result but showing his determination to push forward in the season ahead.
Bruno Fernandes joins Tottenham stars in reacting to Joao Palhinha debut
Palhinha joined Tottenham on loan earlier this summer, with an option to buy included in the deal, and the midfielder was handed an immediate start in the UEFA Super Cup final.
Despite Spurs’ dramatic defeat to PSG, Palhinha remained upbeat in his post-match message on Instagram.
He wrote: “I’m so happy to make my official debut representing this club in a memorable final!” He also added “We’re together on this long journey ahead, but one thing I’m certain of, with our work together, the future will bring us joys.”
His words were met with plenty of support with new Tottenham teammates Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke liking the post, as did former Sporting teammate and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
He returns to the Premier League after two years with Fulham between 2022 and 2024, which earned him a move to Bayern Munich last summer.
While his stint in the Bundesliga proved underwhelming, Tottenham supporters are optimistic about Palhinha’s arrival, and his debut display will only fuel that excitement.

Tottenham reignite Eberechi Eze transfer interest
With Tottenham short on options from the bench, particularly worsened by James Maddison’s ACL injury, the club have revived their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Reports suggest Spurs are in talks over a potential deal for Eze, although Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Thomas Frank has made an attacking midfielder a key priority this summer, and negotiations for the Palace star could gather pace in the final weeks of the transfer window.
