Tottenham backed to agree ‘£30m’ Porro fee – ‘they can get a deal done’, says expert

Alan Hutton has claimed Tottenham won’t meet Sporting’s £40million release clause for Pedro Porro.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said Antonio Conte’s side would be willing to agree a deal for £30m.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (18 January), the Lilywhites have made an opening bid for the 23-year-old that includes one player plus guaranteed money which Sporting have rejected.

The London club will continue negotiations with the Portuguese side who are insistent on the release clause being met.

Porro’s current deal expires in 2025 and is believed to be keen on a move.

Conte’s current right-back options include Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence.

When asked if Tottenham will be willing to fork out for the defender, Hutton told Football Insider:Not that much.

I think they can get a deal done at around the £30m mark for him.

He is an attacking wing-back. It has probably been a problem area for Tottenham this season and Conte looks to want to bring somebody in.

He is an attacking full-back, wants to get forward, fits the bill and fits the formation.

Porro has made 13 league appearances for Sporting so far this season.

In those outings he has scored one goal and provided five assists.

Tottenham

Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League, five points behind fourth place Newcastle United.

Spurs are also 14 points off league leaders Arsenal who have a game in hand over Conte’s side.
