Lingard backed to snub West Ham and sparkle for new-look Tottenham after twist - Phillips
Jesse Lingard has what it takes to shine at an “all new” Tottenham side under the wing of Nuno Espirito Santo.
That is according to ex-Premier League hitman Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed the Lingard saga’s latest twist.
A West Ham source told this site on 12th July that they fear being gazumped by Spurs in the race for the 28-year-old’s signature.
Lingard, who is under contract at Man United until next summer, spent six months on loan at the London Stadium in 2020-21.
The Irons are keen to make the switch permanent after he scored nine goals and supplied five assists in 16 matches.
But this site first broke news on 10th July that new Spurs boss Nuno is a fan of the attacker and wants him as part of a potential £100million-plus-players deal for Harry Kane.

Phillips predicted that the England international would be a hit if he chose Spurs over West Ham.
“I think it will be a brilliant move for him if they can do it,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“It’s all new at Spurs. They’re in transition with the new manager coming. We’ve seen what Nuno did at Wolves in terms of the way he likes to play and get the best out of his players.
“I don’t see him staying at Man United. They might like him to stay but I don’t see him being guaranteed week in, week out football and he’s got used to that at West Ham.
“You don’t want to go back there and just sit on the bench after tasting what he did. So I think Tottenham would be a fantastic move for him.
“He’s top class when he wants to be, the type of player that Nuno probably likes that can get in the box and score goals.”
