Kieran Maguire: Levy has ‘grand plan’ to catch rivals with ‘£120m’ Tottenham statement
Tottenham can “hit £120million” in matchday income as part of Daniel Levy’s grand plan to close the financial gap on their rivals.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Spurs published their annual report on 23 November.
The Londoners posted an £80.2m pre-tax loss as revenues tumbled to £361.9m, a downturn of £40.5m compared to the 2019-20 campaign.

In an accompanying statement, chairman Levy wrote that Spurs’ strategy is to “drive and generate revenues to invest in all of our football activities.”
Tottenham’s 63,000-capacity stadium is central to that aim but the pandemic meant they earned just £1.2m in matchday income in 2020-21.
Maguire claims that the stadium is key to Spurs closing the financial gap that their rivals have generated through huge commercial revenues.
“If they weren’t an ambitious club they would still be playing at White Hart Lane,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“They realise that the only way Spurs can compete with behemoths of the Premier League is through other means.
“They are well known but they are not a global brand. So they have to address those areas where it can gain an advantage.
“It’s not going to match the commercial revenue of other clubs. They made £136m, then you have Man United on £275m.
“That is a big gap between them and their peer group. You, therefore, have to control the controllable.
“One of the ways they have done that is to have a stadium that generates more money than their competitors.
“I believe that Spurs can hit £120m in matchday income. At White Hart Lane, they were generating £35m to £40m.
“Daniel Levy has a grand plan. It is going to take time to come to fruition.
“What else could he have done given that they don’t want to go down the Abramovich and Mansour route.”

Spurs are currently 7th in the Premier League after 12 matches.
Their game against Burnley today (28 November) was called off because of heavy snowfall.
