Tottenham transfer news: Kieran Maguire ‘surprised’ Levy is ‘livid’ after Liverpool drama twist
Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy has no call to be “livid” with Liverpool over the hijacked transfer of Luis Diaz.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 25-year-old winger’s move to Anfield.
Football Insider reported on Wednesday (2 February) that Levy is furious after Liverpool signed Diaz even though Spurs had a “signed” agreement with Porto.

But it is understood that Liverpool capitalised on Levy’s negotiations to drive the price down and swooped at the last minute.
Maguire insists that the 59-year-old executive of all people should understand the cutthroat nature of the transfer industry.
“He can’t have any complaints at all because business is business,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“If a player is good, there will always be more than one party interested. We have seen clubs jump in before.
“If you think about Man City with Maguire, Ronaldo, Sanchez, they didn’t whine, they just got on with it.
“If he is livid, I’m surprised. If anyone knows about the fact that a deal isn’t concluded until the signature is on it, it’s Levy.
“He’s the master of negotiations and recruitment. It’s all part of the game.”

Diaz has registered 14 goals and five assists in 18 appearances for a Porto side who have dropped just four league points all season.
He could make his Liverpool debut in the Fa Cup clash at Anfield on Sunday (6 February).
