Tottenham are on the verge of signing Argentina Under-20 centre-back Juan Foyth after agreeing to loan out Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to a report.
Football site ESPN FC claim USA youth international Carter-Vickers is set to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan.
It is said that the 19-year-old is heading to the Championship club following a change of policy from manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has previously been reluctant to allow Spurs’ promising young players to go out on loan.
ESPN FC report that a deal is close to being wrapped up for Foyth, who is set to follow new club-record signing Davinson Sanchez to White Hart Lane.
Carter-Vickers, 19, made four appearances in the domestic cups last season but he is yet to feature in the Premier League for Spurs.
Last season, Mauricio Pochettino said Carter-Vickers could become “one of the best centre-backs in England”.
But this summer has marked a change in approach and Carter-Vickers’ move to the Championship comes after Joshua Onomah joined Aston Villa on loan earlier this month.
Carter-Vickers earned a first senior call-up to the U.S. squad in November last year but did not feature in the World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica or Mexico. He has been a regular for his country at Under-20 and U23 levels.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are to finalise a £45million-valued signing today after terms agreed.
