Tottenham could agree ‘bargain’ Pedro Porro deal after journalist’s update – pundit

Paul Robinson has suggested Tottenham could agree “a bargain” deal for Sporting Lisbon wing-back Pedro Porro.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the Primeira Liga is “a very good hunting ground” for Premier League clubs.

Antonio Conte wants to upgrade his options at right wing-back in the upcoming January window.

According to The Sun‘s Martin Blackburn (29 December), Spurs are leading the chase for Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro.

He is said to be valued at £26million by the Portuguese club.

His contract in Lisbon runs until the end of June 2025.

When asked by Football Insider if the ex-Man City defender would be a welcome addition at Spurs for £26million, Robinson said: “The Portuguese league seems to be a very good hunting ground for Premier League clubs.

“You just have to look at the top players that have come from Benfica over the past five years. History tells you that the Portuguese clubs are very good nurseries for young players.

“The other thing that is important to note, is that the players who have come into the Premier League from Portugal tend to adapt very quickly. That is a bonus.

“It is also not a league blessed with a lot money so you can often pick up a bargain or two. That may form part of the thinking for Spurs if they are to go for Porro in January.”
