Tottenham could be ‘forced’ to spend big on striker as Richarlison transfer edges closer
Tottenham could soon be in the market to sign a new striker with the groundwork already being laid ahead of the January transfer window.
Dominic Solanke recently underwent surgery on an ankle injury, and has missed large periods since his move to North London, leaving Richarlison as their main centre-forward.
Randal Kolo Muani is also capable of playing as a central striker, but has also been missing through injury, forcing the Brazil international into the starting XI.
However, Mick Brown told Football Insider on 13 October that Tottenham could accept offers for Richarlison in January after holding talks over a move to the MLS.
The Brazil international has scored three goals and provided one assist in seven league appearances so far, but could be set to leave amid interest from Orlando City.

Richarlison to ‘force’ Tottenahm into agreeing striker deal
Football Insider revealed in May that Tottenham would allow Richarlison to leave should an appropriate offer arrive amid uncertainty about his future.
However, a move to the MLS in January would force the club to look at new attacking options with ongoing concerns about Solanke’s fitness.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Brown, who remains very well-connected at his former clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Spurs are unlikely to let the Brazil star leave without landing a replacement.
“Richarlison could be tempted to leave Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.
“But that would force them to go out and sign a new striker, because they don’t have the depth in that position to be letting people go without replacing them.
“Given the way the market it at the moment, there aren’t too many strikers out there. Whoever they go for, especially mid-way through the season, is not going to be cheap.
“It will depend on how much money they get from Richarlison, because that might make a difference.

“Otherwise I think it will be difficult for them to let him go, because they can’t do without him.
“Solanke’s injury issues mean they need somebody who can fill in while he’s out, they’re not going to put themselves in a position where they’re caught short.”
It is not just MLS outfits interest in the striker, however, as finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Richarlison could join the Saudi Pro League.
Tottenham already assessing big-money striker options
Given the uncertainty surrounding both Richarlison and Solanke at Spurs, their scouts have alerady begun making efforts to identify potential centre-forward options.
Football Insider revealed on 11 October that Porto striker Samu Aghehowa is on Tottenham’s radar, with scouts keeping a close eye on his performances.
The Spaniard has been on the radar of several high-profile clubs including Chelsea and Newcastle, but Spurs are now the latest club to join the race.

Tottenham were also linked with Harry Kane amid speculation that he could be set to leave Bayern Munich thanks to a release clause which becomes active in 2026.
However, Football Insider revealed on 10 October that Bayern Munich are planning contract talks with Kane to extend his stay in Germany beyond the 2027 expiry date.
