Tottenham data offers stark Mohammed Kudus warning after Bayern thrashing

Mohammed Kudus has left Tottenham fans concerned after data showed Spurs’ new signing struggled in their 4-0 defeat at Bayern Munich.

The friendly in Germany saw Spurs thrashed and given a reality check by Bayern after a previously unbeaten pre-season run proceeded the encounter.

Manager Thomas Frank witnessed a performance that will concern the new Spurs boss ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG and the upcoming Premier League season.

Former Spurs striker Harry Kane scored against his former club, and missed a penalty, alongside strikes from Kingsley Coman, Lennart Karl and Jonah Asare.

New signing Mohammed Kudus came away from the contest with a concerning array of data.

As per Fotmob, Kudus lost the most duels in the match, nine, completed only three successful dribbles out of the 10 he attempted, and only one of his six crosses were accurate.

Losing duels will be the biggest worry for Frank as he looks to change the club away from its ‘Spursy’ image and into a defensively tough side to break down.

More impact offensively and defensively will be expected from Kudus, who cost £55million from Spurs’ fierce London rivals West Ham this summer, Frank’s biggest purchase so far.

With the long-term injury to James Maddison, Kudus will be an even more important player to Spurs in the upcoming campaign.

Frank realises the work still to undertake

The Bayern performance and result highlighted the amount of work Frank still needs to undertake to make Spurs Premier League title challengers.

On this evidence, making the Champions League places may be a tall order, but Bayern are one of the strongest teams at home in Europe.

Frank needs players like Kudus to step up in the team and offer more when the going gets tough in games.

The manager may be thinking about dipping into the transfer market to replace Maddison, although Kudus could already fill the number 10 void.

Kudus though would need to be stronger in duels and offer greater productivity if he was to start in that position in midfield.

Harvey Elliott could be signed from Liverpool to add to their options, whilst Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has also been linked.
