Tottenham expected to seal more Serie A signings after journalist’s £68m update – Robinson

Paul Robinson expects Tottenham to look to Serie A once again when the transfer window re-opens.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one suggested there would be at least one signing from Italy given the success of Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero.

According to Fabrizio Romano (17 May), Tottenham will sign both Romero and Kulusevski on permanent deals this summer for a combined fee of around £68million.

The duo initially joined on loan deals from Atalanta and Juventus respectively.

Spurs also signed Rodrigo Bentancur from Serie A – the centre-midfielder signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the London club in January.

All three players have been major successes for Antonio Conte this season.

Therefore, Robinson believes Conte and Fabio Paratici will continue to recruit from Serie A.

“To get Romero and Kulusevski for that price is great business,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“That is extremely cheap for two players of that calibre. I suspect there would be a lot of teams very interested in those two were Spurs not to sign them permanently.

“You have to put a lot down to the manager and Paratici. Their relationship and knowledge of the Italian market is paying dividends.

“That is a sign of what is to come in the summer I think. I’m sure there will be another one or two signings coming in from Italy.

“Spurs have to back Conte in this window. Another window like January would only be good for the club.”
