Tottenham expert: Bryan Gil could join Real Madrid after development

Tottenham should loan Bryan Gil to Barcelona or Real Madrid instead of selling him this summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Gil, 21, joined Valencia on loan until the end of the season on Deadline Day (31 January).

He went on to make 17 total appearances for the club, failing to score and only registering one assist.

As per The Daily Mail (26 May), Tottenham are now looking to offload the winger this summer, just 12 months after arriving at the club for a reported £22million.

Wenham insists this is the wrong course of action.

“I don’t think he should be loaned back to Valencia. They aren’t in any European competition next season,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I do think we should keep him. It would be great if we could loan him to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“Some people will ask how he could play for those clubs considering the stats he got last season.

“The difference is the performances were very good, he was getting a lot of pre-assists. The pass before assist, if that makes sense.

“For me, he has to join a club in the Champions League or failing that, any Premier League club.

“He still has four years left on his deal and I don’t want to see him sold, we should loan him out again.

“At the bare minimum that should increase his value and reputation.”
