Tottenham expert: Bryan Gil in line to complete transfer imminently

Bryan Gil will not stay at Tottenham this season despite featuring on the bench against Chelsea.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Gil, 21, featured on the bench for Spurs in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday (14 August).

The winger has so far failed to make an impact at Spurs since he joined the club in the summer of 2021 and is expected to leave on loan before the transfer window closes.

He was shipped out on loan to Valencia in January and went on to make 17 total appearances for the club, failing to score and only registering one assist.

Despite being on the bench at Stamford Bridge, Wenham insists there is no chance of Gil staying at Spurs this season.

“I think we will leave a loan for Bryan until the end of the window,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We have Richarlison coming back from a ban so he just provides another option while he gets up to speed.

“I do not see him featuring for us, I think Conte just wanted a bit more cover for the attack on the bench against Chelsea.

“I do think he will go out on loan, I don’t see him featuring for us at all. It could be a last-day kind of thing. There is no rush on our part.

“For me, a loan to La Liga is an utter waste of time. I believe he should be sent on loan to another Premier League club or a Championship side.

“He needs to get used to the physicality of English football.

We know he can do it in Spain.”
