Tottenham expert can’t believe ‘disgraceful’ Richarlison news

Tottenham star Richarlison could thrive after having a banana thrown at him while playing for Brazil.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Richarlison, 25, bagged a brace for Brazil as they beat Tunisia 5-1 on Tuesday (27 September) however the occasion was marred by a racist incident.

While celebrating his second goal, a banana was thrown from the crowd, narrowly missing the Spurs attacker.

In a video shared by Football Daily (28 September), Richarlison admitted he did not see the banana but called for the fan to be identified and punished.

Wenham was left disgusted by the incident but believes Richarlison will use the incident as motivation.

“It’s absolutely disgraceful that this is still going on,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“When will people learn? Unacceptable. Outdated. Uncivilised. It still happens in the Premier League at Premier League clubs.

“There was an incident in the derby Aubameyang last season but the good thing was plenty of Tottenham fans immediately challenged that.

“There is no place for it in modern football. What I will say with Richy is that he is the type of player to thrive off that and go against people who want to discriminate against him in any way.

“Hopefully that can light a fire under him ahead of the big game this weekend.”
