Tottenham expert can’t believe Richarlison news emerging from Brazil

Alan Hutton has claimed Richarlison’s return to Tottenham will be a “massive boost”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said the 25-year-old has proven his ability to Antonio Conte ahead of his return to club football.

According to football.london (26 December), the forward is expected to be out for five to six weeks after picking up an injury during the warm-up of Brazil’s quarter-final clash against Croatia.

Whilst many have praised Richarlison’s World Cup performances, which earned him goal of the tournament, the Brazilian media have been heavily critical of the winger.

Brazilian media outlet UOL (23 December) claimed that the goalscorer had not lived up to his potential at the tournament in Qatar, calling him a “disappointment”.

But Hutton felt the criticism was unjustified.

I thought he had a really good World Cup,” he told Football Insider.

Obviously the pressure from the Brazilian media will be because they did not win the tournament. From him personally I thought he played well.

He is more than capable of playing that number nine role. If anything I thought he would have a confidence boost, coming back from that.

It has been a little bit up and down, he has had to bide his time as well. For him coming back it will give everybody a massive boost if he can continue on that form. I think he can be pleased with his performances.
