Tottenham expert can’t believe what he’s seen from Ivan Perisic – ‘just crazy’
John Wenham has been blown away by Ivan Perisic’s “crazy” football knowledge after his first week as a Tottenham player.
Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, is delighted with the wide man’s first few days at his new club.
In a video posted to Tottenham’s Twitter account on 1 June, Perisic, 33, can be seen looking at a list of former players and pointing out names such as Jamie O’Hara.
Wenham could not believe what he was seeing when he first watched the clip.
“He’s come across really well, I’ve enjoyed the things he has done with Spurs TV,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“His in-depth knowledge of football is just crazy. He was looking at this list of players who have played for the club in different eras.
“He was pointing people out like Jamie O’Hara and Adel Taarabt. His knowledge on football is crazy.
“He spoke really good English which is great to see and he seemed to have real time for the other Croatian lads we have had at Tottenham like Modric and Kranjcar.
“I am really pleased with his understanding and his move seems to be going really well already.
“As I said last week, I think he is a real coup to get in and we haven’t spent any money on him.
“The most reliable reports claim we are paying £98,000-a-week top him.
“There was one report that put him at £180,000-a-week but to me, the former reports seem more realistic.
“I also don’t see his age being an issue as I’m hoping we play a lot of games next season and squad depth will be key.”
