Tottenham expert cites Cameron Archer after transfer news confirmed
Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham striker Troy Parrott to benefit from his loan move to Preston North End.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one cited Cameron Archer and Anthony Gordon when discussing the transfer.
On Monday (25 July), Preston confirmed the signing of Parrott on a season-long loan from Spurs.
The Championship club beat Sunderland to the 20-year-old, who was part of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia.
The highly-rated striker signed a new three-year contract with Antonio Conte’s side before completing the temporary move to Deepdale.
Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer and Everton’s Anthony Gordon have enjoyed loan spells with Preston over the last two seasons.
When asked by Football Insider if the move would be beneficial for Parrott’s development, Robinson said: “Preston are a great club and they have developed youngsters over the last couple of years.
“You only have to look at Cameron Archer and Anthony Gordon.
“Parrott has had a mixed time over the last few seasons trying to make an impact. I wonder whether his long-term future is at Tottenham.
“To be able to go to Preston and feel wanted may benefit him. He needs stability. I think he will improve as a player this year.”
Villa striker Cameron Archer joined Preston on loan for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.
The 20-year-old scored seven goals in 20 Championship appearances.
