Tottenham expert ‘delighted’ by ‘great achievement’ from youngsters as Man City showdown on the cards

The Tottenham Under-17s side “deserve everything” after making it to the final of this season’s Premier League Cup.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham’s Under-17s beat Charlton Athletic last Wednesday (9 March) to earn their palce in the Premier League Cup final.

Rio Kyerematen, Jamie Donley and Charlie Sayers scored the goals as the Tottenham youth side won 3-1.

Wenham is delighted for the young Spurs side with them so far enduring a difficult season.

“So, this cup was set up two years ago to bridge the gap between 16 and 17-year-olds who were playing in the Under 18s leagues,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“What was happening, is there were a lot of teams full of second-year scholars.

“This competition is meant for first-years and those in the younger age groups.

“Because Tottenham’s side is almost all first-team scholars anyway, we are very strong in this competition.

“We are finally playing against players in the same age group. I fully expected us to make the final for that reason.

“I’m looking finding out where the game is against Manchester City because I will be looking to attend.

“It’s a good opportunity for our Under 18s to feel good this season because they have spent all year playing against second-year scholars which has made things difficult for them.

“They deserve everything, I’m delighted for them. It really is a great achievement.”
