Tottenham expert fears for Troy Parrott after ‘really sad’ update out of Preston

Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott’s injury has come at the worst possible time after scoring his first goal for the club.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

As revealed by Preston boss Ryan Lowe on the club’s website (11 October), Parrott will be missing through injury for the “foreseeable future” and is not expected to play until after the World Cup.

The 20-year-old joined Preston on loan on 25 July and has so far made thirteen Championship appearances, scoring one goal.

Wenham is gutted that Parrott’s development will stagnate over the coming weeks and months.

“I was really sad to hear about Troy Parrott getting that injury,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He had just scored a fantastic goal away at Norwich that weekend and I was hoping that he was over the hurdle of not scoring so it’s typical bad luck.

“I wish Troy well and hopefully he can come back and get back scoring after the World Cup. You want your loan players to play as much as possible which is why I was delighted one of Preston’s other forwards got suspended at the start of the season.

“Troy hasn’t had much luck so for him to get that goal then pick up this long-term injury, it’s a really disappointing one for him.

“Now he just has to work and motivate himself and get back as soon as possible because I am sure there is more to come from him.”

While on loan at MK Dons in the 2021-22 season, Parrott made 46 appearances for the club and scored 10 goals.

The striker was used in a deeper number 10 role, limiting his goalscoring chances.
