Tottenham expert fumes after Hotspur Way development – ‘this can’t go on’

The Tottenham youth sides will see many improvements after January following a very poor start to the season.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Last weekend (15 October), Tottenham’s Under 21 side lost 4-1 to Wolves Under 21s.

Spurs found themselves 3-0 down inside 13 minutes and 4-0 down after 35 minutes.

Jaden Williams’ first-half stoppage time goal was the only positive on a dismal afternoon for the youth side, who are yet to win a game this season.

“You have to remember there have been a load of changes this summer,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The academy is undergoing a complete overhaul. Lots of people have come in behind-the-scenes and I just wonder if things are falling through the cracks.

“The Under-21s results have not been anywhere near good enough and that is so frustrating considering the talent in that squad.

“The parents of the players are travelling hours outside of London to watch them get beat inside 10 minutes, it’s not good enough.

“I can only hope we see changes after January. Things could all change during the World Cup break, who knows?

“One thing is for sure, this can’t go on for much longer considering the players we have.”

Tottenham’s Under-21s are only being kept off the bottom of their division by West Ham’s youth side.

The young Spurs side sit second bottom of their Premier League 2 division.
