Tottenham expert fumes at ‘crazy’ development out of Hotspur Way
Tottenham should be achieving more at youth level considering the finances pumped into the facilities at Hotspur Way.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham’s Under-19s lost 3-2 to Frankfurt’s youth side in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday (12 October).
Spurs took a 2-0 lead into halftime but were 3-2 down within eight minutes of the restart.
Wenham was left fuming with the side now unlikely to progress to the knockout stages.
“It was a total game of two halves,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“The first half was so good, one of the best I have seen us play all season. The linkup between Donley, Devine and Alonso was fantastic. The attacking play was so nice to watch.
“Then we just had this period at the start of the second half where we totally collapsed. We let in three goals, one of them was a wonder strike to be fair but it was a crazy collapse.
“After the goals, we got back to our performance in the first half. We hit the bar, we hit the post. We went back to playing really well.
“It was just a real shame that we collapsed and it makes it really hard for us to qualify into the next round of the youth league.

“That’s a real shame when you look at our youth facilities. They will have cost more than the facilities of the other three teams in the group combined.
“It is very disappointing and frustrating. It seems like we are having a complete restructuring at that level. Maybe it’s just too soon for us.”
