Tottenham expert fumes at ‘really underwhelming’ development

The Tottenham Under 21s’ performance in the recent Tournoi Europeen was “really underwhelming”.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Spurs took place in the Tournoi Europeen at the end of July though they finished second bottom of the tournament table.

Wenham was left fuming weight the results.

“This week we played in a tournament we play every year over in France,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s an Under 21s tournament and I have to be honest, it was a really underwhelming set of results. I don’t know what to say.

“It’s frustrating on a personal level that we aren’t playing with a three at the back. I want our academy to be doing that and Conte is saying he wants to build something here and stay for a significant amount of time.

“We should be playing with three at the back and with attacking wing-backs in the academy. I just find it really counterintuitive.

“It’s not working on the same page and it’s not setting players up for the first team. Some of the results, we lost to Paris FC.

“Some people think that’s PSG. It’s not. It’s an amateur team from Paris, we cannot be losing to them. We have some very good players in that team, are you telling me they can’t dominate those games?

“We should be winning this whole tournament and we haven’t done that since 2017. That team had Tanganga and Skipp in it.

“We have now finished one from last this time. It’s not good enough.”
