Tottenham expert fumes at ‘screaming’ fans after analysing controversial Harry Kane footage
The decision to award Tottenham a penalty in their 2-0 win over Everton was correct.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
During the second half of Saturday’s (15 October) clash, Harry Kane went down in the Everton box as Paul Tierney pointed to the spot.
The striker got to the ball first after Jordan Pickford spilt a tame Matt Doherty shot.
Some rival fans have suggested on social media that Kane went down too easily or even dived to win the penalty.
Wenham does not share this view.
“I think there were possibly two penalties in there,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“There is an initial clip from the defender then Jordan Pickford takes him out. There is a great clip online that shows it.
“The usual jealous Twitter supporters of other clubs have come out screaming but to me, two fouls in the box, the referee is going to give a penalty for one of them.
“I’m pleased the referee awarded the penalty and that Harry dispatched it. Other fans have this thing about Kane and going down easily but there was definite contact.
“He gets a lot of penalties but he causes problems and defenders still don’t know how to deal with him, it’s that simple.”

Kane has now scored nine goals in 10 Premier League games this season.
Tottenham are next in action against Man United on Wednesday (19 October).
