Tottenham expert hails Malachi Fagin-Walcott news after speaking with Ledley King
Malachi Fagin-Walcott is highly rated at Tottenham with first-team coach Ledley King among his fans.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Monday (28 February) Football Insider revealed Fagan-Walcott is in advanced talks over a new contract with the club.
The 19-year-old is highly-regarded at Spurs and has been regularly training with Antonio Conte’s first team.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider that the club are close to tying Fagan-Walcott down to a new deal as a breakthrough in talks edges closer.
“I like Malachi a lot,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I feel like this year has been a total stagnation of his development, he should have been out on loan.
“He was out at Dundee last year but he got injured very early on in that loan spell.
“As I say, this season has been a total stagnation of his development and hopefully if he signs this deal that means he can go out on loan for the full season next year.
“I had the pleasure of interviewing Ledley King a few weeks ago and I asked him about our young defenders.
“He made it clear to me that he really rates Malachi and he’s one he sees a lot of potential in him.
“He has made his first-team debut as well in the Champions League under Mourinho.
“The club rate him very highly.”
Fagan-Walcott signed his first professional contract in November 2019 at the age of 17.
He has made 13 Premier League 2 appearances this season and captained the youth team against Crystal Palace on 7 February.
