Tottenham expert: Hugo Lloris will start v Arsenal after ‘big’ development

Hugo Lloris will start for Tottenham against Arsenal this weekend despite injury concerns.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The French national side announced on 19 September that Lloris, 35, has withdrawn from their most recent squad due to a thigh injury.

Lloris has played every minute of Spurs’ 2022-23 season, who are next in action away to Arsenal on 1 October.

Fraser Forster, who arrived in the summer, could make his Spurs debut if Lloris is unable to start the game.

However, Wenham claims a lack of communication from the club suggests Lloris will be fit to start.

“Of course, there are injury concerns after the international break,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We are still waiting to hear on Ben Davies and Hugo Lloris. The Lloris one is absolutely massive. The big thing for me is, I think we would have heard something come out of Tottenham by now if he wasn’t going to play.

“You have to hope he is going to be fit enough to play in that game because, as I have said before, he is vital to us.

“We need our captain in one of our biggest games of the season. Nothing against Forster but we need Lloris.

“Hopefully, because there has been no news from Tottenham, he is going to be able to play.”

Lloris has made 425 appearances for Spurs.

He has never won at the Emirates.
