Tottenham expert issues ‘£50m’ Rodrigo Bentancur claim after what he’s seen – ‘phenomenal’
The signing of Rodrigo Bentancur was “phenomenal business” by Tottenham as he is now worth “£50million”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Bentancur, 25, joined Spurs in January and has already become a key member of Antonio Conte’s squad.
In their recent draw against West Ham (31 August), the midfielder was dropped to the bench and Tottenham struggled to control the midfield.
Wenham was blown away by the player upon his return to the side against Fulham (3 September).
“Bentancur came back in last weekend and he was the best player on the park, for me,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“You noticed how much we missed him in that West Ham game. Just how calm and composed he is on the ball.
“He does really good pressing and defensive work. We just look a much better outfit when he is in the side.
“I can’t actually believe we got him for £16million on the back of winning three straight Scudettos, at 24-years-old, it was phenomenal business.
“We already have a £50million player there who is only going to get better.”
Bentancur has made 24 total appearances for Tottenham though he is yet to score a goal for the club.
He has been in from the start in all five of his appearances this season.
