Tottenham expert issues behind-the-scenes reveal as fans up in arms over ‘massive disaster’

The recent 7-1 loss to Liverpool is not a “massive disaster” for the Tottenham Under-23s side.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham Under-23s were hammered 7-1 by Liverpool’s Under 23s on Saturday (12 March).

J’Neil Bennett scored Spurs’ only goal as the young Reds ran riot in the first half.

However, this was a mismatched and inexperienced Tottenham side with several players making their Under 23s debuts.

As a result, Wenham isn’t overly concerned by the result.

“It was a very disappointing result because the lineup included several players I’m really excited about,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Paskotsi was there and he captained the side. Jamie Donley started his first Under-23s game upfront as well.

“It was always going to be a tough ask because this side has lost so many players from its core.

“Not just on loan or in permanent moves but there are a few unnecessary suspensions in there as well.

“Three of our regular back four were not starting that game so there were lots of changes.

“We beat that Liverpool team 4-0 last year, these things happen. It’s not a massive disaster as some people have claimed.

“Though as I said, it is a disappointment.”

Tottenham Under 23s are next in action against Leicester Under 23s on Friday (18 March).

Spurs currently lie sixth in the Premier League 2 Division 1.
