Tottenham expert issues ‘big’ Oliver Skipp claim after new development

Oliver Skipp’s return from injury has come at the “perfect” time for Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Skipp was called up for England Under 21 duty earlier this month and played his first minutes of the season as he started in his side’s 2-0 win over Italy Under-21s on Thursday (22 September).

Skipp’s last senior Spurs appearance came against Chelsea on 23 January.

The 21-year-old’s latest knock came after jumping for an aerial challenge with a teammate at Hotspur Way the day before the friendly against Rangers this summer (23 July).

Wenham is delighted with Skipp’s progress.

“I want him to play all of the England Under-21s games,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He looked great in the training kit the other day, great to see him back on grass. For Skipp, it is all about game time at the moment.

“I expect Skipp, when he is let back into the side, won’t let Conte down. It will then be difficult to remove him from that side.

“It has been a long time since we have seen him now and him coming back right now is perfect timing, it’s a big help to the midfield.

“We have this run of games in October, it’s three games a week and we need a full squad to get through that without any concerns.”

On 20 April, it was announced Skipp had signed a new deal, keeping him at Tottenham until 2027.

The midfielder has been at Spurs since he was five years old with 2025 set to mark 20 years with the club.

In other news, one pundit can’t believe Djed Spence could quit Tottenham in January after new development.
